It is with sadness that we report the passing of former Bay Harbor Islands Town Manager Anthony Nales, this past Saturday, March 3, 2018.
A proud US Navy WW II Veteran; Mr. Nales began working for the Town on September 29, 1958, at the age of 32 and continued his service until August 1st, 1991. He was an employee of the Town for 33 years. Mr. Nales worked for the Miami Dade County Water and Sewer Department before being hired as a project manager for the sewer project in Bay Harbor Islands. He then became Superintendent of Public Works in 1961 and in 1968 became Assistant Town Manager and Town Clerk. In 1974 he became the Town Manager; a position he held until his retirement in 1991.
We wish to offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends and thank his son, Anthony, for taking the time to make us aware of his father's passing and of his father's continued love for the Town. Please know he is remembered fondly by all who knew him. The Town’s flag was lowered to half-staff today upon learning of his death.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, from 5-9 PM, with an evening prayer service to be held from 7:30 – 8:00 PM at the Joseph A. Scarano Stirling Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 6300 Stirling Road. Davie, Florida 33314. Mr. Nales will be buried with full Military Honors at the South Florida VA National Cemetery on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at 10:45 AM, Lane 3.
