EMERGENCY ALERT - BUILDING COLLAPSE IN SURFSIDE

A partial building collapse of a 13-story building has occurred on the 8800 block of Collins Avenue, in Surfside. Multiple agencies have responded to the incident and rescue units have responded from as far away as Sunrise. Miami-Dade County's Emergency Operations Center has been activated and a Family Reunification Center has been established. The rescue effort continues to account for missing persons.

Traffic is being redirected away from the scene until further notice. No southbound traffic will be permitted on Harding Avenue from 96th Street. All southbound traffic from Bal Harbour will be rerouted westbound on 96th Street/Kane Concourse, through Bay Harbor Islands. Eastbound traffic from Bay Harbor Islands will not be permitted to turn south onto Harding Avenue. Traffic will have to continue eastbound to Collins Avenue, headed north. Traffic from 71st Street, in Miami Beach will not be permitted northbound onto Collins Avenue.
