Emergency Traffic Alert

Eastbound 96th street is currently backed up from Biscayne Blvd. to A1A. We suggest that persons wishing to enter the area go north to 163 Street and head east from there. 

  • The incident perimeter has been expanded. The expanded perimeter is bounded by 96st Street to the north; Collins
  • Avenue to the east; 85th Street to the south; and Harding Avenue to the west.
  • There are now checkpoints on 96th and 85th Streets on A1A to enter Surfside. Only persons who live in the area will be allowed to pass. A photo ID showing place of residence is required. Please do not attempt to enter Surfside if you do not have the proper ID. You will only create additional backups. Thank you and have a safe day.
  • Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) and partner agencies continue search and rescue operations at the Champlain Towers building collapse site located at 8777 Collins Avenue, Surfside, FL 33154.
  • The County's Reunification Missing Persons Hotline transferred to the State of Florida's Champlain Towers Hotline (833-930-3701) as of 8:00 AM this morning. 
  • The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors webpage for individuals seeking hotel accommodations or assistance because of the Champlain Towers collapse is https://www.miamiandbeaches.com/surfside-emergency-hotelassistance/.
  • Florida Division of Emergency Management created a website for reporting missing individuals & individuals found from Champlain Towers at www.surfsidereunite.com.
  • Community foundations have established a website for monetary donations to help those impacted by the devastating building collapse in Surfside, Florida. Donations can be made at supportsurfside.org.
