Town of Bay Harbor Islands Update - 8:10 am July 8, 2020



  

County sets more stringent restrictions for restaurants, gyms, and short term rentals:

  • On Tuesday, July 7, 2020, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez signed an amendment to Executive Order 26-20 to close banquet halls and ballrooms, while also setting more stringent restrictions for on-site dining service, gym use, and short-term rentals. This amendment goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2020.  
  • All banquet halls and ballrooms must close, both those that are stand-alone businesses and those that are operated in any hotels or other establishments.   
  • At gyms and fitness centers, masks or facial coverings must be worn when inside.On-site dining at restaurants and cafeterias is limited to outdoor service only between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. each day. Such establishments may operate their kitchens between the hours of 10 p.m. each night and 6 a.m. the next morning only for the purpose of providing delivery, pick-up, room service, or take out services.  
  • Daytime and overnight occupancy for short-term vacation rentals is now set at a maximum of two persons per bedroom plus two additional persons per property not to exceed a maximum of 10 persons. New rental agreements can only be on a monthly basis.

Town Hall closed to the public:

  • Due to one of our Town employees testing positive for COVID-19 and a large number of other employees who now must quarantine for possible exposure, Town Hall has been closed to the public.  Also, in an abundance of caution, the Town is closing the Summer Care 2020 program.  Please note, the Police Department continues to operate as normal.  Should you require services from Town Hall that require an in-person visit, we will not be able to accommodate you at this time.  Please consider using our online portal or emailing the department you need for service.

FDOT Project on A1A:

  • FDOT is scheduled to begin a new lighting enhancement project the week of July 6, 2020 that includes various locations along SR A1A/Collins Avenue from Fountain Street in Miami Beach to Harbour Way West.in Bal Harbour. Summer Care 2020:

  • Our program is currently suspended until July 15th due to COVID-19.

Town Parks:

  • All Town Parks are now open to our residents only from 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., with some restrictions in place, as per Miami-Dade County Emergency order AMENDMENT NO. 3 TO MIAMI-DADE COUNTY EMERGENCY ORDER 21-20
    • Facial coverings must worn over the nose and mouth in accordance with Emergency Order 21-20..
    • Entrance into Town Parks will be strictly limited to Town of Bay Harbor Islands residents. ID showing proof of residence will be required. There will be no exceptions.
    • All children must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.
    • Town Staff will restrict entrance to enforce guidelines.
    • Residents shall maintain a minimum 6-foot social distance while inside our Town Parks.
    • Parks will be fully staffed to ensure that Park rules are enforced.
    • If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or have any symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath or flu like symptoms please DO NOT ENTER OUR FACILITIES.
    • Parks are for passive use only (walking, jogging and running).
    • Gatherings such as picnics, parties, organized competitive play and pick-up games are strictly prohibited.
    • Parks will be cleaned every two hours and deep cleaned after each closure.
    • Exercise and Playground equipment use is prohibited.
    • Dogs are allowed only in designated dog parks and must remain on leash.
    • The Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 school field and basketball courts remain closed awaiting the school board’s decision.

Tennis Courts use rules: 

  • Entrance to the Tennis Courts will be strictly limited to Town of Bay Harbor residents ONLY.
  • Facial coverings will be required when entering & leaving.
  • One court will be open for singles and doubles play.
  • The second court will be set aside for our Tennis Pro to provide Town residents with individual instruction

Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Registration:

  • New Student Registration for the 2020-2021 school year is open. Please call 305-865-7912 to schedule an in-person registration appointment. You may also scan all required registration documents to newstudentbayharbork8@gmail.com. Please ensure that you review the registration and immunization requirements under the information tab at rkbbayharbor.dadeschools.net prior to registering.

Reopening:

  • The Morris N. Broad Community Center remains closed. Library patrons may pick up pre-ordered books, DVDs and other library materials outside this and all other Miami-Dade Public Library System (MDPLS) locations. The outdoor service is available Monday - Saturday from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Please visit www.mdpls.org/services/walk-up.asp for more information.
  • The Town of Bay Harbor Islands Shuttle bus is running on a normal schedule.
  • If you have questions about what can and cannot reopen, please call the Miami-Dade County Answer Center at 311.

Pass Plan: 

  • Renewing your pass plan can be done online.  Please click on the pass plan icon on the Town’s home page. 

Monthly Parking Decals: 

  • Requests to purchase monthly parking decals can be made via email to Marcella Guarracino at mguarracino@bayharborislands-fl.gov. Pick up of the parking decals will be scheduled by appointment only.

Community Services:

Water Bills: 

  • All water bill late fees and shut offs are waived until further notice

Trash Pick Up:

  • Trash continues to be collected on a normal schedule.
