A transformer blew causing a loss of power to the north and south sides of the West Island as well as the 1000 block of 95th & 96th Streets on the East Island. Portions of Surfside and Indian Creek are without power as well.

FPL dispatched a power restoration specialist to the area and power is expected to be restored within the hour.
