Corporal Ed Peterson
Retires from the BHI PD

After 28 years of faithful service with the Bay Harbor Police Department, 25 years with the Suffolk County Police Department and 2 years with the NYPD, Corporal Ed “Father Ed” Peterson has retired.

On May 17, 2019, Corporal Peterson’s family, friends and colleagues gathered at the Morris N. Broad Community center to wish Father Ed best wishes on his next chapter.

Corporal Peterson’s sense of humor, calming presence and all-around positive nature will be greatly missed by all who worked with him.  The Town of Bay Harbor citizens were very fortunate to have had Corporal Peterson patrolling their streets.

All is not lost, however; Corporal Peterson will remain with the Bay Harbor Islands Police Department as a reserve officer. If we’re all very lucky, we may have a Father Ed sighting now and again.

Best wishes, Corporal Peterson!
